Telent Wins UK Rail Network Enhancement Contract

10 November 2010

Telent has received a contract from the Docklands Light Railway's (DLR) franchise operator Serco Docklands in London, UK, to enhance and extend the DLR's existing IP Ethernet network.

The network expansion project involves expanding the size of the DLR's Local Area Network (LAN) to encompass 46 stations and 26 power substations, and make the network more efficient.

Under the project, Telent will undertake detailed network design and carry out configuration, testing and verification of the LAN.

The UK-based company will also equip 14 DLR stations with its public address system, integrate help points at all 46 DLR stations and implement advanced industrial LAN products across the network.

The DLR is an automated light rail system in Britain and is operated under a concession awarded by Transport for London to Serco Docklands.
