Australia-based Infrastructure and Minerals, a unit of US construction company KBR, has received a contract to provide engineering design services for the Liverpool Turnback project in Sydney, Australia.

The project is part of an A$143m (US$144.87m) upgrade of the Liverpool rail network, which involves the construction of a new platform, footbridge extensions and an additional 1.8km of track through Liverpool station.

Under the deal, the company will provide engineering design services for the track, overhead electrification, concourse and footbridge extensions, and related civil works.

Construction work will begin in early 2011 and will be completed in 2014.
