Crossrail Unveils New London Station Design

05 November 2010

Crossrail has unveiled designs for the proposed new Tottenham Court Road Station in London, UK.

The five-storey station will feature step-free access, a public piazza and new entrances at several locations.

The ВЈ1bn ($1.6bn) Crossrail station will be integrated with the existing Tube station to form a 993m combined station from Soho to Centre Point.

The combined station will offer access to Tube and Crossrail services while the existing Tube station will be redeveloped to accommodate additional capacity and two enlarged ticket halls.

UK-based firm Hawkins Brown Architects will submit a planning application to the Westminster City Council for final approval later this year.

Preparatory construction work for the station is now underway while the main works will commence in 2011.

Derwent London will submit a separate planning application this year for the implementation of the over-site development work.
