Siemens to Supply Signalling System for Beijing Subway

04 November 2010

Siemens Mobility has announced it will supply the Trainguard MT automatic train control system for the Beijing Subway extension project in China.

The €65m ($90m) signalling equipment will be installed on the Olympic Line 8 and Ring Line 10 of the subway system.

Siemens will also equip the operations control centre, the wayside facilities along the inter lockings and provide the onboard components for 82 trains.

Siemens and China National Railway Signal & Communication Corporation will deliver the project for Beijing Mass Transit Railway Construction Administration.

Line 10 will be extended by 32km and comprise 23 stations while Line 8 will be extended by 17km and will feature 12 stations, which will allow subway connectivity to south-west Beijing by 2012.

Once complete, it will be the world's longest metro line to be equipped with a radio-based system for train control between the rail vehicle and trackside equipment, according to Siemens.
