Australian State Begins Work on Station Project

03 November 2010

Geotechnical survey and site investigation works have begun for the A$142m ($140m) Liverpool Turnback Project in New South Wales, Australia.

The project involves building an additional 1.8km of new track section and an upgrade of the station, including a new platform with concourse and footbridge extensions, a new train turnback and signalling services.

The project will help services run on-time by separating trains that terminate or commence at Liverpool Station from through trains that service stations south of Liverpool, according to the Government of New South Wales.

Construction work will begin in December this year and will be completed in 2014.

The Liverpool Turnback is one of 13 projects that form the New South Wales Government's A$2.1bn ($2bn) Rail Clearways Program.
