Passenger and freight rolling stock provider Downer EDI has won an A$190m ($184.7m) contract to expand and upgrade Queensland Rail's fleet of high-speed passenger tilt trains in Australia.
Downer Rail will design and build an advanced diesel tilt train consisting of two power cars and 12 carriages adhering to Queensland Rail's safety standards.
The new trains and carriages will feature sleeper cars with personal en-suites, first-class sitter cars with lay flat seats, a restaurant car, first-class and club lounges and economy sitter cars.
Downer will also expand the existing two-train fleet to add ten new carriages to make 12 carriages.
The new rail vehicles will be delivered from April 2013.
