Term: Direct Traffic Control


Definition:

Direct Traffic Control (DTC) is a radio-based control system for non-signalled lines used to authorise trains to occupy main tracks. DTC can be used as a single safety system in non-signalled territories, or can be supplemented with Automatic Block Signalling (ABS) to increase traffic capacity.
