Glenair's New ThermaLoc Harnessing Technology

23 May 2005

New ThermaLoc interconnect products for rolling stock manufacturers and rail infrastructure companies.

Glenair has been the leading manufacturer and supplier of commercial and MIL-Spec connectors and accessories since 1956. Building on this foundation, we supply rolling stock manufacturers and rail infrastructure companies with a comprehensive range of innovative interconnection components and systems that give increased reliability and lower overall costs.

Supporting rolling stock Glenair has introduced the ThermaLoc mould in place system to replace conduit and heat shrink sensor harness assemblies in harsh environment areas such as engine raft assemblies, bogies and oil systems.

The technology has many advantages as any shape can be moulded to contour the harness to the equipment, it is totally sealed against fluids, is not hollow so does not suffer from holing from debris from the track and the internal wires do not suffer from abrasion due to vibration.

Glenair has also introduced its high performance conduit assemblies for use on inter-car jumper connectors. Offering high degrees of flexibility and protection in a range of products from polymer to metal core conduits.

Being the world's largest supplier of connector backshells Glenair is helping to overcome issues with inter-car jumper cables by designing a new concept in connector strain relief. A major issue on some of Europe’s high-speed trains is the breaking of wires within the jumper cables due to the high stresses involved during use. Glenair has recently been qualified by SNCF to use this new technique on the TGV trains.
