DC-DC Converter with 20kV Isolation

Absopulse Electronics' HIS120 is a high voltage isolated DC-DC converter developed for high power gate drivers and similar applications in railway track-side, oil and gas, mining and industrial environments. This 120W, dual-output unit provides 20VDC at 3A from each output, with a higher number of outputs available on custom versions. It accepts a 48VDC input (44VDC to 56VDC range).
The HIS120 is designed for corona (partial discharge) extinction voltages of 12kVrms (minimum) and it is Hi-POT tested for isolation levels up to 20kVrms. The typical operating voltage potential between primary and secondary is 6.5kVrms to 10kVrms, with the same isolation provided between the outputs. Both outputs are highly regulated and have current limiting and short circuit protection. Isolation design features include encapsulating the output regulators in two separate insulation chambers, and the use of transformers engineered with Absopulse’s field-proven proprietary technology.
This converter is convection cooled and rated for operation over 0°C to 50°C without de-rating. It is filtered to meet EN55022 Class A EMI as a minimum. The open-frame package measures 4in x 12in x 2.75in and weighs 2.38lbs.
