200W Encapsulated DC/DC Converter for Redundant Operation in Railway Applications

The RWD 200 is a recent addition to Absopulse Electronics' RWY series of rugged, field-proven, DC/DC converters. Designed for operation in railway and other harsh environments, the RWD 200 provides a complete 200W power solution in a compact enclosure and weighs 1.3 kilograms. A built-in redundancy diode allows for 1+1 redundant operation when two modules are connected in parallel.
This push-pull converter employs advanced FET technology to deliver a single output of 12Vdc/16A or 24Vdc/8A. Input ranges include:
- 24V (14.4 – 37Vdc)
- 36V (22 – 55Vdc)
- 48V (28 – 74Vdc)
- 72V (42 – 110Vdc)
- 110Vdc (57 – 168Vdc)
They are all typically required in railway applications. The units are capable of continuous operation in these ranges. Other input and output options are available on request.
The RWD 200 meets the stringent requirements of EN 50155 for electronic equipment used on railway rolling stock. It also meets EN 50121-3-2 (EMI and EMC) as well as EN 55022 Class B EMI, with wide margins.
Full encapsulation in a thermally conductive MIL-specification silicon rubber compound ensures immunity to shock, vibration, humidity, moisture, salt and airborne contaminants. Conduction cooled via a base plate, the unit performs to full specification at temperatures from -40°C to 70°C.
