19 May 2009

Handheld today announced the Nautiz eTicket™, a new version of the versatile, rugged mobile computer Nautiz X5™ designed specifically for transactions and ticket validations in the public transport sector.

The Handheld Group today introduced the new Nautiz eTicket rugged PDA with an integrated smart card reader. The Nautiz eTicket has RFID capabilities plus a host of other advanced features. A built-in smart card reader supports various ISO 14443 type A/B, and ISO 15693 RFID devices, including MIFARE and ICODE. The contactless electronic link between the card and the reader allows for the fast transaction needed in transportation security and payment systems.

"Since we introduced the Nautiz X5 two months ago, it has received a warm reception from our customers. Now we've extended the family with the Nautiz eTicket and included the specific RFID standards that public transportation customers have been asking for," said Jerker Hellström, CEO of the Handheld Group. "We have had great success with our rugged M3 eTicket PDA through the years and are looking forward to continued success with the Nautiz eTicket."

The Nautiz eTicket rugged PDA comes with an 806MHz processor and advanced features such as integrated 3Mpx camera with autofocus, integrated 2D imager, WLAN, Bluetooth, 3G cellular capabilities, and GPS. The Nautiz eTicket uses the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system and comes with 256MB RAM and 512MB built-in flash storage. The rechargeable 4,400mAh Li-ion battery provides more than a full day's work on a single charge. The transflective VGA color display and touch-screen provide sharp and clear resolution even while working outdoors.

The Nautiz eTicket has been especially developed for the public transport sector, but can also be used in a variety of RFID applications. It will be first shown at the Handheld Business Partner Conference in Stockholm, Sweden on the 18-20 May 2009, and is available for purchase immediately.
