Derailment of a TEP70BS diesel locomotive near Semrino station on September 14, 2025.
The driver died after a diesel locomotive derailed in the Gatchina District.
This was reported by Leningrad Region Governor Alexander Drozdenko on his Telegram channel. The incident occurred near Semrino station. The driver was trapped in the cab. He died in an ambulance after the derailment was released.

The start time for the acceptance of locomotive TEP70BS No. 362 (installation of the registration cassette) was 7:07 AM.

Train No. 4301 was sent from track 5 of the St. Petersburg-Tovarny-Vitebsky station at 7:36 AM under the "Ж" signal of the locomotive signal with the TSKBM off. As train driver/instructor D.A. Dontsov proceeded along the section, he failed to turn on the TSKBM.
After passing the "NM5" signal with a yellow indicator at 7:37 AM, train driver/instructor D.A. Dontsov entered track "0" on the CLUB-U unit. Further along the entire section, train driver/instructor D.A. Dontsov entered track "0" while the permissible speed on the CLUB-U indicator unit was set to 200 km/h.
At 7:40 AM, train driver/instructor D.A. Dontsov Conducted a test of the automatic brakes' effectiveness while traveling at a speed of 55 km/h with a braking rate of 0.6 kgf/cm2, with a maximum brake cylinder pressure of 1.56 kgf/cm2. The braking distance was 106 meters, with a speed reduction of 3 km/h.
Train No. 4301 passed Kobralovo station at 8:07 a.m. in traction mode under the green locomotive signal at a speed of 136 km/h. Further along the Kobralovo-Semrino section from 41 km (6 PK) to 44 km (8 PK), train No. 4301 increased its speed from 136 km/h to 163 km/h.
Upon reaching 163 km/h, driver-instructor D.A. Dontsov took action to reduce the speed by applying the auxiliary brake. The locomotive developed a brake cylinder pressure of 2.0 kgf/cm*, but at a speed of 153 km/h, at 44 km 8 pk I of the main track at Semrino station at 8:08 a.m., locomotive TEG170BS No. 362 derailed with all wheelsets and subsequently overturned on its side.
As a result of the derailment of locomotive TEP70BS No. 362 at Semrino station, driver-instructor D.A. Dontsov died.
