Accident at the Murtazovo-Elhotovo level crossing of the North Caucasus Railway on January 3, 2026

On January 3, 2025, at 1:18 PM, at an uncontrolled railroad crossing between the Murtazovo and Elhotovo stations of the North Caucasus Railway, the driver of a passenger car drove onto the uncontrolled railroad crossing in front of an approaching passenger train No. 298 Moscow-Vladikavkaz.

The locomotive driver applied emergency braking, but the clearance was insufficient, and a collision could not be avoided.

According to preliminary information, there are no injuries. There was no derailment. The passenger train departed at 1:38 PM.

The situation did not affect the operation of other passenger trains.

The North Caucasus Railway urges drivers to exercise caution when crossing railway tracks and strictly observe traffic rules.
