Among the above products, HTFH-SI and LKD1-H2 TCC has been technology reviewed and approved by the MOR (Ministry of Railway) in China. The LKS-2000 digital multimode track circuit system (a subsystem of ZPW-2000H) has undergone advanced technological review by the MOR and on-site trial for Kunming railway department.

Rail Contols System (200~250km/hr)

HollySys' Rail Control System solution includes the Automatic Train Protection (ATP), Train Control Center (TCC), Lineside Electronic Unit (LEU), computer interlocking systems, and multi-mode track circuit, etc. The CTCS2-200 train control system for 200km/hr rail network meets the requirements for the speed-up of existing lines and for the train operational safety of passenger dedicated lines. The HollySys train control system solutions have been successfully utilized in the 6th Nationwide Railway Speed-up, making contribution to the China’s railway industry. Approximately about 200 sets of ATP system have been utilized in the CRH1 and CRH2 EMU in the 8th railway bureaus. The TCC and LEU equipment have been successfully applied into four main line railway; Beijing-Shanghai railway, Beijing-Harbin Railway, Shanghai-Kunming Railway, and Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway. Over 100 computer interlocking system projects have been completed in the subway and light rail stations as well as railway stations owned by industrial enterprises in aspects of metallurgy, mining, port.
High-speed Rail Signaling System (300~350km/hr)

The high-speed rail signaling system is mainly consisted of two products, one is on-board ATP (Automatic Train Protection) which is installed at the front and tail end of each train, the other is ground-based TCC (Train Control Center) stationed along the rail way track. TCC collects all the information about the track condition, speed limit, and etc., compiles it into a digital file and sends it over to on-board ATP, which generates a driving instruction curve, so that the high-speed rail train knows exactly what is expected in terms of speed, slope or turn before it enters the next radio block. ATP also functions as the last line of defense in safety, as it can trigger emergency break if it detects a danger ahead or potential collision. ATP in combination with TCC provides the crucial control elements in the high-speed railway signaling systems to ensure the safety and reliability of the high-speed railway traffic and operation. There are only four 300-350km/h high-speed rail lines in commercial operation in China today, which are Wuhan-Guangzhou, Zhengzhou-Xi’an, Shanghai-Nanjing, Shanghai-Hangzhou high-speed rail lines, among which Zhengzhou-Xi’an line was commissioned by Hollysys.

HollySys' ATP product certified to SIL4

Most recently, our proprietary designed and developed high-speed railway ATP product is certified to the most stringent European safety standard SIL4. This is a strong testament to Hollysys R&D capabilities in developing its proprietary products in the leading end-markets. This certificate, being the first grant to a Chinese local company for the railway ATP product, is a head start for Hollysys to get more of its safety products in high-speed railway and subway segments certified to world-class standards. We will continue to enhance our market position both in the domestic and international arena by introducing more high-quality proprietary products.



Computer Interlock System

Train Signaling, Safety and Control


Interlocking system, the vital device to ensure the safety of train operation, controls switches and signals of railway stations. Traditional interlocking systems in China were realized by relay circuit, featuring complex logic and large maintenance workload. With the development of computer technology and the in-depth research of software and hardware safety technology, computer and peripheral electronic circuits are now considered as sophisticated technology to realize logic that used to be realized by the unsymmetrical feature of relay.

Overseas major signal companies have their own computer interlocking systems. As interlocking system has clear function requirements, products of different suppliers are of little difference in terms of functions and technologies.
The core of computer interlocking system is Vital Computer.
The dominant architecture of European Vital Computer (EVC) is 2 out of 3 architecture .
The dual 2 out of 2 architecture is mostly used in Japan.

In China, to facilitate on site test and station modernization, it is recommended by the Ministry of Railway that dual 2 out of 2 architecture should be adopted for computer interlocking systems.
HollySys product with 2 out of 3 computer interlocking system has been used in non-trunk lines for petrochemical and metallurgical industries.
HollySys product with dual 2 out of 2 architecture is under safe software inspection by the Ministry of Railway.
→Main Technical Performance

HollySys has developed two generations of computer interlocking devices. Their vital computers are the same as that of train control center. The structure of the first generation is 2 out of 3 and the second is dual 2 out of 2. The main technical specifications are as follows:
Internal communication: Profibus-DP, baud rate: 1.5Mbps, satisfactory for real-time control
Safety and reliability index: reliability: MTBF≥1×106 h; safety: v≤1×10-9, in accordance with IEC61508 SIL level 4
System response time≤0.22s: maximum time needed for system to respond when certain input condition changes
Information exchanged between system and connected devices are related to operation safety.
System internal and external communication follows the communication safety requirements of European standard EN50159-1
EMC follows railway electronic product standards
Intelligent and modular structure satisfactory for stations of all sizes.


Train Control Center (TCC)

Ground Control at each train station

Train control center is the ground control center of train control information located at each station. It collects route information from interlocking system, operation and schedule information from CTC/TDCS, as well as state of track circuit and device working status, generates train control information through vital logic calculation, and transmits the information to on-board devices by track circuit and balise. Train control center is the ground logic control center and vital signal device.
→Main Technical Performance

HollySys has developed two types of train control center products, LKD-2000H and LKD1-H2.
LKD-2000H is a kind of train control center with the function of digital coded track circuit coding and inter-station information transmitting.
LKD1-H2, developed under the requirement of the Ministry of Railway, satisfies 200km/h speed-raise train control for the existing railway lines. As LKD1-H2 was developed to meet the urgent demand of the Ministry of Railway, it does not have track circuit coding and inter-station transmission functions. However, required by the Ministry of Railway, it can be extended into a train control center system with standard functions by adding extension modules. Dual 2 out of 2 platform is the vital computer platform for HollySys new computer interlocking system. Further development of train control center will be based on this platform.

The main technical specifications are as follows:
Internal communication: Profibus-DP, baud rate: 1.5Mbps, satisfactory for real-time control
Safety and reliability index: reliability index: MTBF≥1×106 h; safety index: v≤1×10-9, meeting safety requirements (SIL) Level 4 of IEC61508
Applicable train running speed: 0~350km/h
Applicable train tracking operation interval: 4minutes
System response time not more than 0.5 second, which is the longest time system would need to respond when certain input changes
The information exchanged between system and all connected equipments are related to train operation security, and system internal/external communication security satisfies the safety communication requirements of EN50159-1

Automatic Train Protection (ATP)


On-board Train Safety Control Device


ATP On-board device, also known as train over-speed protection device in China, is the on-board device train main control system. It receives line data, speed limit ahead, operation status ahead, and route information from the ground, and then combines with train parameters to produce train operation protection curves. It is a kind of vital signal device, ensuring train operation safety.

→Main Technical Performance
HollySys has developed its ATP on-board device based on its own vital computer platform.
Complies with CTCS* Technical Standard General Requirements.
Complies with CTCS-2 ATP Technical Requirements.
The train control system transmits information to on-board devices through the combination of track circuits and balises.
GSM-R communication ports are reserved for upgrading to CTCS-3 and CTCS-4.
*CTCS: China Train Control System
*CTCS-2: China Train Control System Level 2 (+200km/hr)
*CTCS-3: China Train Control System Level 3 (+300km/hr)
*CTCS-4: China Train Control System Level 4 (+400km/hr)



Multi-mode Track Circuit


Track circuit is used to inspect train occupancy, integrality of the rail and train, and to transmit the train control information to on-board equipments. Currently used track circuit includes FSK (such as 18 informations) track circuit that only transmits 1 out of 18 informations at a time, and digital coded track circuit that can transmits coded digital information. Multi-mode track circuit has multiple working modes. It can work under FSK mode or digital coding modes.

HollySys multi-mode track circuit has different working modes for different application needs. It can either be FSK track circuit or one of the digital track circuit modes. This helps resolving the compatibility of old devices and new devices. Its main technical performance is as follows:

Under digital coding mode:
Code length: 41 bits
Available train control information: 32 bits
Train control information demodulation time: 2.2±0.3 second
Applicable train speed: 0-350 km/h
Information transmission mode: continuous transmission
Train control information reliable demodulation S/N: better than 5:1

Under FSK mode:
Information amount: 18
Train control information demodulation time: 1.7±0.2 second


Balise


Balise is a set of ground-to-train information transmission system, including ground device and on-board device. Ground devices include fixed balise, switchable balise and LEU; on-board device includes BTM and its antenna.

When a train passing by, on-board module BTM and its antenna activate ground device fixed or switchable balise by radiation. Ground device transmits to on-board BTM the telegrams stored in fixed balise or received from LEU and TCC. On-board devices then decode the train control information. LEU provides variable telegrams for switchable balise, while fixed balise is used to transmit invariable static data.

Balise devices follow European standards. Main technical performances are as follows:
Applicable train running speed not less than 350km/h
Transmission rate: 564.48 kbps
Effective length: 2.0m ≥ d ≥ 0.5m
Distance between on-board receiving antenna and balise: 249mm~469mm
Code length: 1023 bits / 341 bits
Available code length: 830 bits / 210bits
